Wedding memories last a lifetime. Every detail, from the right location to the perfect menu, has to be considered. Buffet or sit down? Wildflowers or roses? Formal or casual? For today’s weddings, the options are limitless. To help you plan this special event, Davis & Elkins College’s Hospitality Services is hosting the Highlands Wedding Expo Saturday, February 23 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“The Expo provides a unique opportunity in wedding planning, whether the date is sooner than later, or yet to be set,” said Clark Evans, event organizer and Graceland innkeeper. “It’s never too early to become familiar with not only the exceptional range of services available at the College, but also the many outstanding businesses that comprise our local community.”

“Wedding planning can be difficult if you’re just looking at pictures or websites. It’s hard to tell what locations feel like or how certain arrangements can set the mood,” said Evans. Local business representatives, specializing in everything from flowers to formalwear, will be available at the Expo to answer questions and guide brides-to-be through their services. The D&E Hospitality staff will also be on hand to assist with catering, facilities and lodging questions.

“Attendees will also be able to see first-hand the beautiful settings available at D&E’s historic Graceland and Halliehurst mansions,” Evans said.  The Expo will feature tours of the two Victorian homes which command beautiful views of the surrounding mountains; both of which are available for dinners, weddings, and receptions.

“Halliehurst’s large open rooms, spectacular wood stairways and elegant fireplaces, combined with the personal atmosphere of Graceland, with its beautifully furnished guest rooms and lovely veranda, can provide couples with a range of options to personalize the big day,” Evans said. “Anyone planning a wedding will benefit from the Expo. We will have every aspect of the planning process on site.”

Visitors should report to Halliehurst to register for this free event. For more information, phone 304-637-1566. To view the D&E Hospitality website go to www.dewv.edu/de-info/hospitality-services.
