The Charleston Area Alliance was pleased to host the Ambassador of the European Union to the United States of America, João Vale de Almeida on Wednesday.
The Ambassador discussed several areas of mutual interest with Alliance President/CEO Matthew Ballard and the Alliance team including:
• International Partnerships
• Foreign Direct Investment
• Import and Export Opportunities
• Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)
West Virginia has been the beneficiary of significant international investments and relationships.
“The Ambassador was impressed with the total exports generated by West Virginia. He was interested to learn how the Alliance has assisted small and medium sized businesses headquartered in the EU expand into West Virginia,” said Ballard. “We are honored to have hosted the Ambassador and to build an even stronger partnership with member countries in the EU for future economic development efforts.”
The Charleston Area Alliance is the economic development organization for our region. The Alliance believes that when economic development is successful, all other community needs are more easily met. We will continue to build a strong global network that can be leveraged by our members to help grow their businesses, create new jobs, encourage capital investment and diversify the tax base.
