Founder Bill Brown honored at 2012 Miners’ Celebration

Celebrating the past, present and future of West Virginia coal mining, the 2012 Miners’ Celebration honored Brown Equipment & Machine founder Bill Brown posthumously for his contributions to the industry.

Held at the Tamarack in Beckley, WV, the Celebration was presented by Marshall University-CEGAS; the WV Coal Association; the WV Department of Energy, Office of Coalfields Community Development; the National Coal Heritage Area; the United Mineworkers of America; and Strategic Solutions LLC. Previous Miners Celebration Conferences were held in 2009 and 2010.

The award bestowed upon Bill was in the category of equipment innovation and his family was on hand to accept the award in honor of Bill. The “Because of You” Awards celebrate the contributions that are being made, have been made and will be made to West Virginia’s mining enterprise ecosystem.

Founded in 1972 by John (Bill) Brown, III and John (Junior) Brown, II, Brown Equipment & Machine Company celebrated its 40th anniversary in April of 2012.
