Governor Earl Ray Tomblin today announced West Virginia will participate in Day to Serve, a collective effort to strengthen communities through volunteer service. Day to Serve is scheduled for September 15-29, 2013.

“Last year, volunteers planned and participated in more than 400 service projects throughout our state’s 55 counties. This year, I’m asking all West Virginians to, once again, offer your time and talents in an effort to double last year’s success,” Gov. Tomblin says. “By volunteering in our communities, we each have the opportunity to experience immense personal growth while preserving our state’s longstanding tradition of neighbor helping neighbor. Through our collective efforts, we will provide much needed assistance in our hometowns and ensure a brighter future for West Virginia.”

Residents of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia will also participate in Day to Serve activities in their respective areas. For more information on volunteering or organizing a volunteer even in your area, visit www.governor.wv.gov.
