Canaan Valley

The Canaan Valley area is a one-of-a-kind honeymoon destination where old-world artistry and outdoor adventure combine with modern amenities. Located in one of the most stunning natural environments in West Virginia, the area offers couples an unforgettable getaway any time of year.

Canaan Valley Resort State Park pulls triple duty as a luxurious resort, a four-season destination and a pristine 6,000-acre state park. Summersville

For honeymooners looking to unwind, Summersville Lake is 60 miles of shoreline and almost 2,800 acres of water. With a water temperature of about 76 degrees and a visibility of 20-45 feet, it is perfect for a host of activities, such as boating, fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and swimming. If you want a little more adventure, consider scuba diving or rock climbing.

For land lovers, there is no better view of Summersville Lake than from the top of the Summersville Lake Lighthouse. There are 122 steps to the top, and once you reach the 360-degree gallery deck, the view is breathtaking. At Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park, guests will be able to stretch their legs and step back in time with a variety of hiking trails and a wealth of Civil War history.

While in Summersville, take a tour of Kirkwood Winery and taste one of more than 30 different varieties of wine. The winery is also the home of Isaiah Morgan Distillery, which produces the oldest bourbon in West Virginia.
