Jackson Kelly Attorney Honored as Bar Foundation Fellow

Jackson Kelly PLLC attorney Marcia Allen Broughton will be honored as a West Virginia State Bar Foundation Fellow during the Annual Bar Foundation Fellows dinner on April 24, 2014.

The honor of Fellow recognizes those lawyers and members of the judiciary whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession with the individuals selected reflecting the diverse nature of the legal profession in West Virginia.

Broughton, one of only eighteen recipients of this honor in 2014, is also a member of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow in the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel. She is a Member of Jackson Kelly in the firm’s Clarksburg, West Virginia, office. As Leader of the Tax Practice Group, her practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, tax planning and business practices.

Broughton graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and majored in accounting. In 1979, she became a Certified Public Accountant. Broughton also received her Juris Doctor in 1979 from West Virginia University College of Law. In 1983, she received her LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.

The Bar Foundation is a philanthropic organization for the legal profession and justice system in West Virginia. Among other services, the Foundation gives grants to organizations that provide legal services to low income citizens and that improve the administration of justice. The organization also selects Bar Foundation Fellows, who are outstanding lawyers and members of the judiciary.
