Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins Names Two New Members To Meet Needs From ‘Unprecedented’ Business Growth

Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins PLLC (LGCR) has named two new members to the law firm’s management team. The new members are Ramonda C. Lyons and James C. Stebbins. “As our law firm continues to grow and expand, we recognized the importance of adding Ramonda and Jamie to our management structure,” said Nick Casey, LGCR’s managing member. “Both have outstanding legal and leadership skills, and they will help meet our growing client base as LGCR continues to experience unprecedented new business opportunities, particularly in the natural gas industry.” Casey also noted that Lewis Glasser recently opened an office in Morgantown, W.Va. to meet the needs of clients in the northern region of the state and in Ohio.

Ramonda Lyons
Lyons primarily represents clients in litigation and commercial matters. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in West Virginia Lawyers® and as a Future Star in Benchmark Litigation. Lyons has extensive experience in complex, high-dollar commercial litigation matters representing natural gas producers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, tobacco companies, mining companies and other large corporations. She has represented:

• Major natural gas producers in litigation involving class action royalty disputes and contract disputes;
• Pharmaceutical companies against class action, medical monitoring and product liability claims;
• Tobacco companies in product liability matters;
• Mining companies in contract disputes, employment and deliberate intent matters;
• Mining companies in safety and health matters;
• Coal broker in international contract dispute; and
• Brokerage firms and investment advisors against claims of fraud, misrepresentation, and violations of federal and state laws.

Lyons earned her undergraduate and law degrees from West Virginia University in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and was recognized as a Phi Beta Kappa scholar. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court of Appeals, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia.

Lyons is a graduate of Leadership West Virginia and is a member of the Defense Research Institute (“DRI”) as well as the West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel.

James Stebbins
Stebbins has had an active and diverse litigation practice in West Virginia for almost 20 years, which includes extensive experience at both the trial and appellate levels. He has tried more than 25 cases to verdict and has been counsel of record in more than 20 reported appellate decisions in both Federal and State Courts in West Virginia. He has successfully represented numerous local and national clients in cases involving insurance defense, insurance coverage litigation, bad faith, public entity defense, mass tort litigation, commercial litigation, oil and natural gas, worker’s compensation, real estate, “deliberate intent” claims and employment law. Stebbins has also more recently been serving as a mediator and has been appointed as a discovery commissioner by the local judiciary. Among his recent engagements, Stebbins has successfully represented:

• A West Virginia city that received summary judgment in a personal injury action based upon the Governmental Tort Claims and Insurance Reform Act;
• A local contractor in a personal injury case with over $900,000 in claimed damages who received a defense verdict after a 2 week trial;
• A local lumber company that obtained a declaratory judgment that an alleged timber trespass was covered under a commercial general liability policy;
• A national insurer in a coverage dispute involving a claim of coverage for alleged construction defects;
• A national insurer in a bad faith case who received summary judgment in a complex matter;
• A national insurer in a case that received a declaratory judgment pursuant to a “liquor liability” exclusion in its policy.

Stebbins has a B.S. in Psychology and his J.D. from West Virginia University. He is a former Editor of the West Virginia Law Review and is a member of The Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court for Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia.
