WHAT:  More than 130 high school seniors from Raleigh, McDowell, Putnam, Webster, Wyoming, Greenbrier and Mingo Counties will converge on the campus of WVU Tech in Montgomery for an intensive four-day workshop that promises to impact their futures and the futures of their peers. The training program runs from Thursday, June 27 through Sunday, June 30 and helps students craft a personal essay, research post-secondary options and determine financial aid options. Students are also trained on how to be a “Peer Leader” to return to their high schools as post-secondary mentors. This year’s College Summit workshop is the largest ever hosted in West Virginia and will be staffed with 42 volunteers from the Yale Alumni Service Corps. Members of the Yale Alumni Service Corps will be coming from all across the country, and various parts of the world, to share their expertise and experiences in the organization’s first domestic philanthropic volunteer effort. The service corps will be arriving in Charleston on Wednesday, June 26 for a welcome reception and dinner and departing on Sunday, June 30.
