The owners of McKamish, Inc., a mechanical contractor based in Pittsburgh, have endowed a scholarship to benefit students studying engineering at West Virginia University.

“McKamish has a history of working at West Virginia University on a number of projects and as a result, we’ve gained a better understanding of the quality of students studying in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources,” said David McKamish, president. “This scholarship helps us to provide opportunities to these talented students. We have been working to create internship opportunities and have stepped up our recruitment efforts at the College as well.”

Funds from the McKamish Endowed Scholarship will provide undergraduate scholarships for students in all disciplines in the Statler College.

“Our students come to us from every corner of the state, the nation and the world, and more and more of them are coming with an increasing need for financial assistance,” said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of the Statler College. “The scholarship support that will come as a result of this generous gift created by the McKamish family will allow us to meet those needs by providing scholarships to our most deserving students.”

McKamish Inc. is a leading specialty contracting company that serves a wide variety of commercial, institutional and industrial customers through its Commercial Construction, Metal Fabrication, Service, and Power and Industrial groups. Founded in 1978, the company remains family owned and operated and focused on its core values of integrity, teamwork and customer commitment.

The gift was made in conjunction with A State of Minds: The Campaign for West Virginia’s University. The $750 million comprehensive campaign being conducted by the WVU Foundation on behalf of the University runs through December 2015.
