National Energy Technology Laboratory to Host 2019 CyberForce Competition

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) is among 10 DOE labs hosting the 2019 CyberForce CompetitionTM, which is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of energy sector cybersecurity professionals to help defend and bolster our nation’s critical energy infrastructure and ensure our energy security. University students from six regional schools will visit the Lab’s Morgantown site for team competition Saturday, Nov. 16. All media outlets are invited to attend and cover the event. 

Who: DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory

What: DOE will host its CyberForce Competition at 10 national laboratories across America. The event will unite 106 college and veteran teams to compete against each other. Participants will compete to build and defend a simulated energy infrastructure from cyberattacks while maintaining service for their customers, played by volunteers. A national winner, as well as winners for each laboratory site, will be announced.

When: Saturday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. EST

NETL is a secure federal facility. Attendees must have valid photo identification and should allow approximately 20 minutes to sign in and be processed through security.
