West Virginia University’s sustainability program, WECAN, is reconfiguring its confidential shredding program on campus so that WVU units can dispose of confidential documents securely and efficiently.

“We’re thankful for the valuable service Printing Services provided to this point,” says Traci Knabenshue, conservation specialist in Facilities Management. “And we’re excited about the fourfold win that the new service gets for WVU units—lower service prices, a continued commitment to recycling, nationally certified destruction practices, and the chance to work with an organization that has such a worthy mission.”

The new program will be offered through a West Virginia state use contract with PACE Enterprises, a Morgantown-based business that provides meaningful and gainful employment for people with disabilities.

“When we earned ‘AAA’ certification from the National Association for Information Destruction, it validated our workers and their commitment,” said Greg Morris, CEO of PACE Enterprises. “Combining the certification with advanced recycling techniques means that we enhance information security and recycling for our customers.”

Customers will box up documents they would like to have shredded, fill out an online pick-up request form, and PACE will pick-up the items for shredding and invoice departments. Customers can also send additional information storage items for destruction, such as CDs, credit cards, and floppy disks.
