The YMCA of Kanawha Valley recently launched the Spirit of the Valley campaign, an annual effort to raise funds for services and sponsorship support to families in need. The campaign will end with the Spirit of the Valley award banquet and luncheon on December 15th, 2021.

Founded in 1906, The YMCA of Kanawha Valley has exemplified the resilient spirit of West Virginia, providing a place for residents to build healthy spirits, minds, and bodies.

At the heart of the campaign exists a desire for every person in the Kanawha Valley to receive access to a community of health and wellbeing, and with a total increase in scholarship requests nearing 60% since the dawn of COVID-19, the need for this vision is greater than ever.

With every donation made to the YMCA of Kanawha Valley, locals can expect a meaningful impact to continue throughout the valley community, ensuring the doors of the facility remain open to all, irrespective of income.

To date, 300 scholarships have been awarded and received, and any future donations given will go toward supporting thousands of families to live healthier and happier lives.

The YMCA of Kanawha Valley is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the community, with a focus on “developing the potential of kids, improving individual health and wellbeing, and giving back to the support of our neighbors.”

In the spirit of giving, there are a number of ways to contribute toward the success of the campaign. Tickets for the Spirit of the Valley luncheon and award banquet are on sale now and can be purchased online. Others can simply donate to the campaign at ymcaofkv.org or by texting SPIRIT21 to 44-321.

Giving Tuesday, on November 30th, also provides an opportunity to donate toward the fundraising efforts of the YMCA of Kanawha Valley.

Every year the Spirit of the Valley campaign recognizes one individual who exudes exemplary community service in the Kanawha Valley and across the state of West Virginia. This year’s award recipient is Retired Major General James Hoyer.
