‘Stuff the Bus’ Collecting Donations during Athens-Concord Town Social

The “Stuff the Bus” campaign sponsored by Concord University’s Beckley campus will be at the Athens-Concord Town Social on Sunday, Aug. 10 collecting school supplies for children in southern West Virginia. The Town Social is being held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Concord’s front lawn in Athens.

Along with monetary donations, the following items are on the “Stuff the Bus” wish list: elementary schools – crayons, magic markers, colored pencils and backpacks; secondary schools – calculators, flash drives, spiral one-subject notebooks, spiral three-subject notebooks, staplers, notecards and whiteout; all students – hand sanitizer, tissues, pencil cases, black and white notebooks, erasers, glue, folders, rulers, pencil sharpeners, highlighters, pencils, pens and loose leaf notebook paper. Please note that no food donations may be accepted.

Every individual contributing a $5 donation for “Stuff the Bus” will be registered to win the grand prize consisting of a Nikon camera bundle valued at $700.  Every individual contributing $1 for “Stuff the Bus” at the Town Social will be entered to win a gift basket. The winner of the gift basket will be announced at the Town Social. The basket includes: four tickets to the State Fair of West Virginia, four tickets to Marquee Cinemas, two CU shirts, two CU water bottles, a one night stay at Sleep Inn in Beaver, picnic supplies and more. Kennywood tickets, A Cricut machine, and a Fender clock are also among the prizes.

The “Stuff the Bus” official kickoff was held Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Beckley Walmart. Another collection day is planned for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the same location from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at this event.
