Together We Can Knock Out Breast Cancer is the theme for University Healthcare’s discounted mammogram clinics that are being held each Saturday in October at both Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg and Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson.

These special clinics featuring digital mammography are being held from 8 am – 2:30 pm at Berkeley Medical Center and 8 am – 3:30 pm at the Women’s Imaging Center at Jefferson Medical Center.  Screening mammograms are being offered at a discounted community service fee of $60 (cash, check or credit card only) which includes the test and the interpretation by a radiologist.

Jefferson Medical Center is the only hospital in the tri-state area offering 3D tomosynthesis mammography.  This new technology allows physicians to examine breast tissue one layer at a time.  Jefferson Medical Center has offered this technology since June 2012 when the Women’s Imaging Center opened.  It was the first hospital in West Virginia to offer the 3D mammography technology.

Berkeley Medical Center plans to offer 3D mammography early next year when the new women’s imaging center opens in the medical office building across the street from the hospital campus.

University Healthcare’s discounted mammogram program is open to anyone age 35 and older.  Although a physician’s order is not required to participate in the mammogram clinics, any patients without a physician will be assigned a physician to receive the test results.  All patients participating in the screening mammogram clinics must register in advance.

To schedule a screening mammogram at Berkeley Medical Center, phone the community wide scheduling department at 304.264.1297.  To schedule a screening mammogram at Jefferson Medical Center, phone the community wide scheduling department at 304.724.5647.
