West Virginia’s Premier Business Publication

Leading the Way

Around the world, countless people are affected by chronic pain and degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer’s on a daily basis. In West Virginia, a world-class team of researchers, scientists and physicians from across the globe have come together at the West Virginia University (WVU) Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) to investigate the causes of these crippling health problems and search for cures.

Talent Transplant

In celebration of those who have adopted our Mountain Mama as their own, “Talent Transplant” recognizes the Mountaineers who were born elsewhere but relocated here, embraced our beloved state and now help us work toward a brighter future. Donald Hitchcock and Paul Yandura lived and worked in Washington, D.C., for more than 20 years before their journey to the Mountain State began. Searching for an escape from the fast pace of the nation’s capital, the couple began spending weekends in Lost River, WV, a rural mountain town, over a decade ago.

Human Trafficking in West Virginia

Sixteen cases of human trafficking were reported in West Virginia in 2017, according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, a hotline serving victims and survivors. This statistic seems low, even for a state with a population of 1.8 million.

The Young Guns Class of 2019

Since 1999, West Virginia Executive (WVE) magazine has been recognizing young professionals who contribute to the success of the Mountain State with its Young Guns honors program. This year marks the magazine’s 20th year in print, and over the course of two decades, 270 men and women have been awarded the elite title of Young Gun.

Anchored in the Mountain State

West Virginia’s High Technology Foundation is focused on creating economic diversification by building up the state’s knowledge sector with the addition of companies like Leidos, a high-tech giant with operations in Fairmont, Clarksburg and Morgantown that is generating new work, new jobs and new opportunities in the Mountain State.

At the Heart of Human Performance

After joining the newly established West Virginia University (WVU) Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute one year ago, Dr. Scott Galster is now leading the way in human performance research and brain health programs at WVU Medicine and WVU.
